I think, in theory, you have to get the leaves out from the space in front of your house. I know in Portland, it's technically the law that you have to clear the leaves as far as one car width's away from your property (the rest of the street is the city's problem)
I can't think of anyone ever getting fined, PDX is nowhere near as enforcerific about such things as Boston, but I know all the Buddhists follow through for ethical and PR reasons.
They have street cleaners that go around and vaccuum up the leaves which seems much more efficient. Since we have the park in front of the house, and then a single lane road, it would be obnoxious of them to enforce such a law and I'd have to punch them.
It wouldn't really be possible to 'clean' our driveway that way since it runs uphill and you'd just end up standing in a large puddle and potentially flooding the basement. I'm so glad for that.
Random: At the shelter today, there was a dog who looked almost exactly like Maggie. His patch over his eye was bigger, but everything else was identical. Even the black/brindle patches. He even did stupidface. I think he's Maggie's long lost brother.

Is your neighbor a large, extremely overweight white man who never seems to wear enough clothing?

Oh, thank god, no. I'm so sorry for your eyes.
