Hiya, this tutorial will show you how I do my coloring when it comes to screencaps. I will use this cap of Koki from his drama "Tokyyu Tanaka 3 go"

Program used: Adobe Photoshop CS5
Translatable: Yes! But generally works best with darker images and screencaps.

1. Start with your base. It is preferred that you work with something High quality because you don't want end up with super pixelated image.

2. Duplicate your base then set the duplicated layer to Screen 65% (Play around with your opacity - every image is different. You may need to set them higher if your image is darker than mine) Your image should look a tad lighter.

3. I want to bring more depth to the picture so I duplicate again then set the second duplicated layer to Softlight 100% (Again, you will need to play around with your opacity because this step will make your image considerably darker). Above is my outcome :)

4. I want to bring some light back to the picture so I'm going to add a curve layer
Layer -> New adjustment layer -> Curve
Play around with your setting to suit your image. Mine is 174 in output by 130 in input (RGB)

5. Next, create a new blank layer and fill them with #f5fafd. Set them to Softlight 24%. The result should be as above.

6. Then create another blank layer and fill tem with #fdf6fc. Set them to Softlight 7%. The result should be as above.

7. Now it's time to bring more color to the pic. To do so..
Layer -> New adjustment layer -> Hue & Saturation
Master 0 +18 0
As you can see your image looks a lot brighter now :) Most people would stop in this step. But I'm going to take it up a notch or two.

8. I want more brightness and color, so I'm going to go ahead and add another curve layer.
Layer -> New adjustment layer -> Curve
RGB: first point - 89 by 54
second point - 216 by 155
Green: first point - 173 by 145
Blue first point - 125 by 79
second point - 220 by 189

9. I think the previous curve layer makes Koki's skin appear blue-ish XD. To fix it add a selective coloring layer.
Layer -> New adjustment layer -> Selective coloring
RED -5 +24 +18 0
BLUE -57 -30 -9 0
NEUTRAL -6 -6 +7 +6
Result as above ☺ - you are more than welcome to stop at this step if you like.

10. To take it up another notch
Layer -> New adjustment layer -> Color Balance
Midtones +9 -5 0
Highlights +14 +9 -9

11. If you feel the outcome looks a little too intense to your liking, add another blank layer, fill it with #d7d7d7 and set them to Linear Burn 13%. And your result is as follow :)

12. Crop your icon and you're done! ☺
