One of these days, Gabriel realised, Sam was going to die.
After all, Sam had technically died twice already, and to heinously misquote Oscar Wilde, ‘To lose one life is unfortunate. To lose two borders on careless’. And, (as Gabriel had started to see, ever since they began sleeping together), if there was one thing Sam could be, it was careless.
