Wig help!

A friend of mine and I are part of a Sailor Moon group and we were wondering if anyone had suggestions for Sailor Mercury or Sailor Mars wigs. We've found that locating a Mercury wig particularly difficult. Also, a nice, long good-quality Mars wig with bangs has proven trickier than expected to track down.

Any and all ideas are welcome! :3

We've been considering them as we've ordered from them and have had good experiences. :3

I was hoping to find a black wig with a skin-top (although I didn't mention it in the post above), but that's proven tricky. ><;

You would need to do some dying after the fact to get the right color though.

It's going to be really hard to find one that's the right color and requires no styling. Mercury's color isn't exactly common in wigs. >_As for Mars ( ... )

Usually I look for wigs on Ebay, and I usually have a fair amount of success there. Make cure to look at all of the pictures, especially to check and see if they have a shot of the top so you can tell how thick it is. Also, check to make sure that it is made from Kanekalon fibers, and if it says it is heat resistant, that may make it easier to style. If you are looking for really thick wigs, I would suggest the seller Cog and Mark.

However, for the Mercury wig, I found that taming down a Scruffy wig (from Cosplay wigs) worked really really well for a friend of mine. It already had the volume for the poofy bangs, it just took some blow drying and gently flat ironing (on the LOWEST setting) to tame it down a bit.

I love the scriffy wig for Mercury, but so many people we know have had issues with Cosplay.com that we're not going to be ordering from them any time soon. :/

I'm of no help and looking for wigs for them, too, but I have all my chibi SM gifs from 98-99, too! Love it!

Mars: I really like these guys for long wigs, they're very non tangly. I have two 50" wigs from there for Pluto, and EC's one of the few places I trust enough to even try ordering wigs that long. I have several of them in black, if you want any out of bag pictures. really extremely good thickness too.

Mercury: She's tough. If it were me, I'd go more for her live action color hair (pure light blueish shade) since the anime-esque blue-green is harder to find/coordinate with the pure blues of the rest of her outfit. Manga mercury has more of a blue-black look to it in most images, so you could also get a blue black mix wig (which are pretty commonly available nowadays).

Your glowing review of EC is making me want to order from them. :)

Yeah, the colour is really tricky for Mercury. We wanted anime colouring, so we're looking for a darker blue that looks good with the costume.

Rustled up some example EC photos:

My Aya and Aroshi wigs are both from EC. You can see how the long black wig looks in a lot of different lighting conditions with the Aroshi wig. I've worn it 3-4 times now and it's held up/detangled very well so far.

Base Pluto wig. Crappy phone picture, but it has very good volume for a 50" wig.

One of my base KOS-MOS wigs, pre straightening. They don't have non-curly light blue wigs in a long length yet, so I bought a two curly ones and straightened them. I was a little worried, but it straightened very well ( ... )
