Due to financial and personal issues I won't be able to attend this year's Otakuthon. I was hoping that there are convention goes who could and would like to video tape some panels/ workshops for me. I hope you're planning on getting permission from the panelists, I'd be a little annoyed if someone did this to one of my panels without asking.

I've tried emailing and contacting them on twitter. I understand but it's also equally annoying when panelists and other cosplayers refuse to write back.

Don't you want to help other cosplayers? I thought that's what having a panel is for, what's the point of having one if you don't want to help people who can't go to see you :(

It's easy enough to walk up to them before the panel and ask. You can even record them saying yes to cover yourself.

Yes, I want to help, but that doesn't mean I want to release my copyright (and yes, my panel is copyright to me just like a professor's lecture is copyright to them) to the general public on youtube. If I wanted my information on youtube I'd put it there myself (and do, so your sharing complaint holds no weight). There's also the issue that guests like Yaya are paid by the convention to hold the panels, so no, they're not there for people who *can't* go see them, they're there for the people who paid for them to be there and give them. You can try to turn this on me (Don't you want to help other cosplayers?) and guilt me into your point of view, but the fact is that you're stealing someone else's intellectual property without their permission, and that is wrong, especially when so many (myself included) would be happy to give it if asked.
