I must woefully admit I don't get it, but it's probably because I haven't read DN in a long time anyway. Like, what's the 23-day rule?

I found this part "many other people, and men" a bit weird though, as though men aren't part of "other people".

And the last part is imagined scenario? Heh, it sounds familiar somehow.

Aww.. alright. Any particular part that you don't get, or the whole story?

The 23 day rule was mentioned in volume 5.
Death note XXVII: If you write "die of disease" for the cause of death, but only write a specific time of death without the actual name of disease, the human will die from an adequate disease. But the DEATH NOTE can only operate within 23 days (in the human calendar).
This is called the 23-day rule.

Have you finished volume 8 btw?

Ah. I get what you mean. Was just emphasising that she got complimented by other guys as well, but it's different when it's from Light.

Some parts are probably from the book. But my impression had been that the book didn't really show that Light spent the whole night with Misa. I just read the part again and changed my mind. Think what was in the book was sufficient, so I'll remove that part (since not necessary to explain further le).

Whole. :P

I finished... and I suspected that was what you intended, but meant maybe it'd be better if you find a way to phrase it so it doesn't seem.. what I meant.

because I don't really get the whole fic as a whole, I don't get the... explanation part or whether it's necessary. :P Maa ne.

explaining the story... cosmiko_ling January 24 2006, 07:42:24 UTC
Basically, Light realises from his conversation with Misa that he did something which he had totally no recollection of doing.

(Only?) possible explanation: it was his before-death actions, controlled by a Death Note. (That's why I brought up the 23 day rule.) He confirms his suspicion by checking the place where he usually keeps his notebook and realises that it is missing. (He didn't notice immediately because his notebook doesn't have a Death God attached to it and he probably doesn't take it out unless necessary anyway? Though hmm.. I realise that I'm introducing unnecesary, possibly canon-contradictory complications by saying that the notebook went missing.)

And the rest of it is Light's reaction to imminent death.
