GHOST TRICK

How is it possible to pack THAT MANY unexpected plot twists and fantastically awesomely unique characters into a single tightly-paced game?

I just finished playing Ghost Trick! Considering that I was already rather excited about it (having heard it was by the same person behind Phoenix Wright), it unbelievably still managed to blow me away.

And before I continue, just to say, I normally don't like spoilers and this is all the more a game that you shouldn't get yourself spoiled for. So, I appreciate those who included a spoiler warning when mentioning it so I didn't get accidentally spoiled~

SPOILERS WARNING NOW

- It's impossible for me to individually list down all the parts I liked because I did enjoy it the whole way. The story was engaging, it was so hard to tear away from it, I was delighted with all the surprises. Gameplay, well the concept itself is pretty special? I had fun. It's easy enough to not feel frustrated, creative and tense enough to not get bored, and gives some room to just play, find a way on your own without fearing irreversible mistakes, which made it less pressurising and I think added to the fun.

- I've always been such a fan of time travel. So I already loved the basic concept of this game. Going back to the legendary "ten years ago" sealed the win.

- Shiy was asking me earlier today who my favourite character was. I realised that I hadn't even thought of a favourite character before then, because I like them all~ And I love that a dog and a cat play such big roles! Hmm... if I've to choose, I guess I especially like Sissel and Missile and Miss Kamila and Yomiel...  thing is, I'm amazed by the unique-ness of all the characters, so I do feel a liking for all of them.

- Don't you just want to dance the "Dance Away the Pain" / panic-whatever dance? Someone dance it with me~ (or teach me it first, since I'm not much of the dancing type at all)

HOLD IT! Thiiiinking about it, I have some questions about the ending?

- if Missile/"Ray"'s story was the original version, how did Missile travel back 10 years into the past? I thought they each had their own individual abilities and only Sissel had the ability to rewind time - which was why neither Yomiel or Missile could save the people they care for...? I have a vague memory that Yomiel said something like that to explain why he couldn't save himself or his fiancee?

- Yomiel mentioned that his powers changed over time. He went from controlling small animals to humans. So exactly how long was "a while" before he went back to his corpse? 4+ years? A tad fishy to have a corpse under autopsy for that long? (Then again, it may not be any more fishy than a corpse that a scalpel couldn't cut a permanent mark into...)

Hmm... maybe I shouldn't think too hard about it. Otherwise I may start thinking about the conventional time-travel logic and ask things like but if Yomiel didn't die and get his powers, how is he able to manipulate his unconscious body into saving Lynne from the Mino? Changed pasts are changed. End of story.

- I like it that the meteorite fragment went through Jowd's leg into kitty Sissel!

- Was Yomiel's "Thank you, Sissel" at the end for Sissel the cat or Sissel the fiancee, I wonder. Deliberately ambiguous? (He named Sissel after his fiancee right?)

- I'm still on a high from playing~ XD If you own a DS and haven't played Ghost Trick yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? :P
