I always see pics of San Fran and I always think to myself, wow I need to visit that city. Had an opportunity about five years ago, but I was stupidly smitten with my soon to be ex and missed out.

If you enjoyed the Green Tortoise, you'd enjoy San Remo. For a single, it's just under $60 a night, which is unheard of in SF, especially in a decent area. I'm so glad I found it. It's a block from the cable car line, which was cool and only a couple blocks to North Beach. It's also not far from Fisherman's Wharf (barf), but if one would be into that kind of thing...Go to Dottie's for breakfast. It's the best.

Bookstores with that kind of history, the kind that have built communities around them ... those are the best.
