The theory of denial was first researched seriously by Anna Freud. She classified denial as a mechanism of the immature mind, because it conflicts with the ability to learn from and cope with reality.

John felt a little ill-and not just from a little too much whiskey. Sammy was teething, and it turned his usually easy-going little boy into a cranky ( Read more... )

Thank you! Call it hormone and a biological clock, but I am super-obsessed with babies lately. :)

Yeah. And it's those moments that everyone clings to, isn't it? Intermittent positive reinforcement aka why can't it always be like that? So sad. Nice little snap-shot. You're doing a really great job of presenting us with three-dimensional characters. Looking forward to the next 'major' instalment! :)

Awww, thank you SO MUCH! That means a lot to me! I've always intended to try and show John's good side, even if he is tough in my little 'verse. I didn't expect any reviews on this little interlude, and I'm so grateful you took the time to comment! Yes, more 'major' installments on the way! <3

First off: YAY NEW POST!

Second: OMIGOD THIS WAS ADORABLE WHY ARE WE NOT MARRIEEED?

I love how hard John is trying, how he wants to be a good father, and at the same time it feels kinda sad knowing it's going to end with Sammy bleeding on the floor, his head smashed in. It's so hard to reconcile this John - determined, hopeful and sad - with the man who hits Dean and breaks a bottle over Sam's head.

And Dean taking those first steps with Sammy also feels kind of poignant knowing what's coming, knowing how often he's going to do it, and knowing that there will come a point (when Sam starts rehab) that he won't be able to. That Sam is going to have to take those first steps alone.

I could write moving essays about your 'verse, I really could.

Sooo...more soon? Pretty please? I have totally not been plotting elaborate fanfiction of your fanfiction while you've been quiet. I certainly haven't been making AUs of your AU." And anyone who says otherwise is a lying liar who lies.

AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY ARE WE NOT MARRIED???? MARRY ME!!! MARRY ME IN A TWO PART TELEVISION EVENT ON E!

You just nailed everything I wanted in this chapter...and I really didn't expect any reviews, because this bit is so short!!!! Really? I think you get my 'verse better than me!!! Heeheee!!!! And go on and make AUs of my AU, sistah!!! I've done it with fics I love, and we've all done it the show we love! I'm always open for suggestions on where to go!

I'm so deeply touched you've given me such wonderful and touching reviews, and read all my little efforts. More definitely on the way--I'm working super hard on it. And by the way! I LOVE YOU! :D Heehee.

A TWO PART TELEVISION EVENT! THAT IS AN EXCELLENT IDEA.

But honestly, we are totally doing it on the BBC and having a national holiday called. In both our nations.

I am seriously going to now refer to you as my wife. I have two Fic-Deities, a Demi-Fic-Goddess, and a Fic-Wife now. LIVEJOURNAL IS EXCELLENT FOR MAKING NEW RELIGIONS AND/OR MARRIAGES.

But on a more related note; yay, I'm glad I understood the subtleties!

Ooooooooh yes yes yes! I love BBC!!!! It shall be a royal wedding yes!!!!

And I shall be honored to be your Fic-Wife!!!!! Of course, LJ is made to accommodate us all (just don't tell the Russians....or so I've been told). You are an excellent reader/critic, never ever sell yourself short! You shine light on this 'verse even I didn't see. It's awesome!

awww - very sweet. I love seeing John like this, the torn father. Made all the more tragic by the future outcome.

The boys are adorable :)

Aw, thank you so so so much! I wanted the boys to be as adorable as possible because I love kids, and I wanted John to be more than a jerk, although he's largely presented as one in my little 'verse. Thank you for taking the time to read and review!
