Songs In The Key Of Life

A month or so ago, one of my co-workers sent out an email saying that she had a piano she was giving away because she was moving and would not have room for it. Although she sent it to our entire office, I'm on email like stupid on a teabagger and with my fingers at the ready managed to get in the first "YES PLEASE!" to her. I like knowing things have a history. I like the stories that objects must hold, even if I don't always know what the stories are. Perfection is beautiful, but can be boring if done too much. Weathered and worn and beautiful as well.

Agree about a piano in the house. Dear Myles, who died in 2007, wrote a hit song (over here) about a couple of blokes trying to move a piano. It was based on the trouble they had getting the piano into the flat in Notting Hill and up to the 4th floor. The song was written on that piano. I can still ask people if theu know the song and they invariably do. Kind of a folk song here now.
That piano was well used at parties.

I would love to hear that song. What is the name of it?

I spent quite a bit of time last night (actually this morning) catching up on posts of yours I've missed during my LJ absence. I now want to hop on a plane and go grab a brew with you in a pub and hear you tell more.

How lovely! We are been contemplating bringing the piano that Eric played when he was a kid to our house but the only thing holding me back is that I think it's ugly - it was obviously made in the 70s unlike your antique beauty :)

Well, this one is pretty banged up, but my camera isn't good enough to show off the damage. Still, the price was right and as I said, I like a little history ( ... )
