Crazy busy!

So all the toys are now out of the TV room. They are sorted. Some are in the dishwasher. Some (although not many) are in the garbage. The games are with our games, the puzzles are in the living room, the SCA-ish toys are in the SCA closet. It took all morning. I even combined a few more of her toy bins and I will be able to get rid of the milk-crate in the bathroom in favour of a nicer toy-holder.

I took a hard look at the VHS movies and dumped about half of them. We don't make time to watch the VHS tapes when we know what is on it, when would we ever get around to watching unlabeled tapes? All the movies now fit on the shelf one deep.

Lynch was going to go through the SCI-FI shelf and weed out books too. He moved the futon in front of the shelf instead. A wiser plan. I just hope we never have to move.

I've been pondering my involvement with the SCA quite a lot lately. I think I do it because I enjoy having the focus for my research but the politics can get me down. I do not think that this is the SCA's fault, I think that it has to do with any group larger than five four three one.

I am trying to think of the positive aspects, the wonderful people I got to know, the new skills I've learned (calligraphy, cooking, sewing, brewing, etc) and the wild parties I've been a part of.

*grin*

Its a fun thing (not mind-numbingly boring) to do with my daughter. It is a fun thing to do with my loves. I know I am a freak among freaks.

It is more than just this post: http://estela-dufrayse.livejournal.com/138559.html making me think about it. I had a conversation with thirstysmurf at Trillies:

Me: Why do I like the SCA?
Her: The people.
Me: Yeah. But that is also the reason I don't like the SCA!
Her: Yeah.

If I could pre-approve all the people in the SCA I still wouldn't like the results AND it would be my fault.

On days like this I miss 2000 (2001?) when I joined. Academia Xiphias was a big household, fencing was cool, and I had a really big group of friends I played with.
