America means USA.

You know what I hate? People that rail on about how 'America' should not refer to the US, and American should not be synonymous with people of the aforementioned nation. What would they have us called? United Statesians? Do they realize how dumb they sound?

To the best of my knowledge, the people of the United States have been Americans, living in ( Read more... )

Ah, but you forget, America is the Great Satan to even some of the people who live in it. Therefore, whatever it does is automatically evil, and any hypocrisy is all right, so long as it's against Amereeka.

You know, I simply wonder why all the people living in the US of A who say it's so horrible don't just fuck off to another country.

My sentiments exactly. Every time I hear some one complain about how bad America is, I tell them that they're free to leave. Funny how they never do.

It's mind-boggling. I blame the sixties and seventies. Those spoiled hippies ruined this country because they ruined the set of morals that had made it great up until that point. Then they went and raised children with over-inflated senses of entitlement and a scathing hate of the goverment(and yet, for whatever reason, a desire to have the government control all aspects of their life; here in California, a law came up which I'm not sure whether or not it passed, that said the government would be able to change the thermostat's temperature in our homes in the interest of conserving energy).

It's ridiculous. Honestly, I feel like the last sane gal alive. And every day, I feel I'm slipping a little more towards crazy.

Ms Guardian:

Never read 1984, a clockwork orange, Brave New World or frankly, any dystopian novel. You'll feel suicidal after that. The similarities between those works and the way our world is headed is depressing.

Well, your warnings are very truthful--unfortunately, I've already read 1984. For some sick reason, it's my favourite book--possibly because it rings so true. I'm actually a big fan of dystopian novels; call me a masochist. I'm going to be reading Brave New World for a summer assignment.

All the same, thanks for the warning.
