This is an old story that had been sitting in my "Completed But Unposted" folder for quite some time, because I wasn't quite happy with it. Finally my eye fell on it while I was searching for something to post. I took the basic idea of the original story and then re-wrote it entirely. Literally nothing stayed the same.

The Basic Idea: Mia’s ( Read more... )

My original thought was that Mia didn't really get much say in most Brian/Dom stories despite the fact that, at least if we go with canon relationships, Mia and Brian were a couple (albeit for a brief time in my eyes, because I'm a Brian/Dom girl all the way :p). That's why I wanted to write down her thoughts for a change.

In my eyes Mia could learn to live with the changes, but only as long as Brian and Dom didn't flaunt their relationship in her face. And Dom and Brian would know and respect that, I think.

I really liked this as well. It's good to see another point of view on their intimate relationship, and even better to get it from Mia. You really captured the depth of her character in this, and her similarities with Dom (they're both selfless) showed too.

It's sad, but it worked. :)

What a great compliment to get. It actually took me by surprise for a second. As I said before: I figured Mia's thoughts deserved to be heard too. I'm glad you thought I managed to write them down well.

Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

I agree that Mia is often pushed aside (or simply killed) in Brian/Dom fan fiction and while I don't mind reading stories like that, I felt like writing a story that gave her thoughts on what Brian and Dom had going on between them.

She's strong and I wanted to try to capture that. I didn't want to make it seem as if everything was okay in her world; that she was just fine with Brian and Dom getting together. Because in the end her brother did get her man and that has to hurt.

I'm a big Brian/Dom shipper but Mia is always next in line as my favourite to write. I think this character study/reflection is right on for what she'd witness and what Mia would feel. She's a very practical girl, and would know when it's best to just keep emotion to herself - but that don't mean she doesn't feel it! She's still a fiery Toretto inside after all. :)
Thumbs up.

I'm a Brian/Dom shipper as well, but there's something about Mia that always grabs my attention too. While I don't mind reading stories where Mia is pushed aside in favour of Brian/Dom, I wanted to write something else.

I wanted to try to capture Mia as I see her: strong, practical, down to earth and not afraid to speak her mind. Yet at the same time I didn't want to make everything fine instantly. Because seeing Dom, her brother, getting the man she wants . . . Well, that has to hurt.
