Well, I spent the morning wrangling with customer service reps for Bank of America trying to get someone to shut off an auto deduction from my checking account.
They were ordered to do so in December but they haven't.

In football terminology, the opposite of "play to win" is "play not to lose." It's a difference in intent.
Sometimes, you do lose when you play to win. :) Famously this season was Bill Belichick's decision to go for it on fourth down at the end of a hard-fought game with the Colts.
But I liked the call. The execution lacked but the intent was there.

But yeah, I can track the distinction between "play to win" and "play not to lose". That's why it was nudging me. :D I too easily get into "play to get by" mode. Got to stop doing that.
Oh, and on the superhero romance front? How about Superman and Lois -- or is that so old hat now that it's invisible?
I'd suggest Green Arrow and Black Canary, except that too many writers have written it badly there are few stories other than the ones that Denny O'Neil wrote back in the '70s that do justice to the relationship.

I found this series thru FCBD several years ago and fell in love with it. It's a great depiction of how to make a romance work in comics. And the relationships between all the characters are very well done. I know it's a little late for this year's Valentine's Day column but get ahold of the TPB and give it a try. I think you'll like it.

Of course, after we got rid of that coach (who'd been there for quite a few years), we hired somebody who took risks and then our football program proceeded to go straight to hell. :-(
