well, if you search the 一 radical, it's there. Count the number of traces and it shouldn't be a problem.

You know, I think that is the first time I've actually *noticed* the stroke count range. Sigh. Thank you for pointing that out.

This sometimes works for me, but it depends on the character---I often just don't get the right characters popping up.

In those cases you can use denshi jisho to find 写 and then look at the radical 'parts', 一冖勹, and then just look up 一勹.
