This is a tricky one as not wanting a woman to play 'The Doctor' may well sound rather sexist, and may even be so. However, I still find its a role I really want to see a man continue to play, but hear me out

I realise this is something that happens rather rarely ( :P ) but I agree with you 100%.
I'd completely forgotten about the canon references to a possible 'cross-gender' regeneration, but that's kind of beside the point, really. The reasons people give for wanting a female Doctor are rarely for the good of the story, and the arguments do often seem to be made by people who don't actually seem that keen on the show. For so many people, Doctor Who is a cultural icon and the argument seems to be that it should move with the times. To which I say, if the writers and producers decide it's for the the good of the story, then go for it. But just for the sake of being progressive? Not so much.
