Alice the elephant

After getting an e-mail from someone looking into the "roots" of my family (Zschusschen or Zschuschen), I restarted some of my own genealogical research. I've found some interesting stories and accounts of the lives of my ancestors (one of them seems to have fought in the Battle of Waterloo) But none of that is important, because I also stumbled on ( Read more... )

I saw this when you posted it on my phone I think and couldn't respond. I love elephants, and that is such a sad story.

This is probably the most obvious transition ever, but did you read Water for Elephants?

The original Times article detailing the exploits of Alice is a particularly strange read. The mourning of Alice is presented as one big show that everyone must simply see. Brr.

I haven't read Water for Elephants, I take it it's a good read? Maybe I can snatch it at the library before the movie comes out :)

I really, really liked it, but I know some people really, really didn't, lol. It's about a guy who becomes the vet for a circus, and one of the elephants plays a big part in the story. I would recommend you pick it up and see if it's for you :-)
