A Parents' Prayer

Recently at church the sermons have been family/parenting themed, and they handed out this prayer for parents to say. I found it touching and I've been meaning to post on it for a while. I hope this will stick in parents' minds and help them do a better job, even if they're already doing great. I hope that those who aren't religious will strip out

Parents need a lot of help and this prayer certainly does provide that. If we could just learn to stop, think, and then react it would certainly be better. One must keep in mind when judging others, as children do their parents and vice versa, that to judge correctly means understanding what the pressures and experiences of the other bring to bear on how they react to situations. Children and parents are a particularly prickly relationship as children learn and yearn for more freedom, sometimes without adequate thought to responsibility and parents yearn for obedience, behavior, correct thought and actions. You know, the same things that Jesus tried to lead us to do.
