Well, I'm all done with the fun fun surgery. I had a bunch of stitches put in, but no skin graft, so I'll probably have a kick ass scar when it's all said and done.

I did ask the nurse very seriously if this meant my life long dream of being a professional neck model was over. She said yes. I wept.

Did they give you any good drugs?

Also, would they have put in a skin graft if you'd requested it?

Just antibiotics and Lortab.

Funny thing is, I actually DID request a skin graft because she said that would heal the fastest. That was the Dictor's plan because she didn't think she'd be able to do just stitches due to the shape of the wound. However, once she started doing the stitches she realized it would work, so she stuck with just that. She's the surgeon, so who am I to argue?

I don't know if I want to see pictures of this because:
A) I'm always curious.
B) Interested in how much they had to cut out.
C) Stitches are gnarly cool.
D) I want to see you cut up and sewn back together.
E) All of the above.

Once they did all of the initial cutting, they took pictures of my gaping neck wound. They asked if I wanted to see it, so I said sure. Then I immediately regretted that decision. There was about a silver dollar size hole behind my ear that was a hell of a lot deeper than I thought it was going to be. Gruesome to see normally in pictures, horrifying to know that's what your head is like right at that exact moment.

Then, after all the stitches I saw another picture. Just looks like a big ugly zipper on my skin. To be honest, I'm glad I don't have to look at it.

So, how's the neck zipper healing? Are you hopelessly addicted to painkillers yet?

There's always hope, Paul. There's always hope.

And, it is still zipped up. Which I think is good.
