Your attention to detail painted a vivid, devastating picture of the world coming apart. You captured the tamped down panic in this group of people that knew this was coming. Maybe being unprepared really was a blessing.

Merlin's welcome committee was completely in character, as was Arthur not being able to turn them away.

Caught a typo: He had chosen to stay behind and address his people, telling them the truth as American fell into darkness.

Thank you so much! I'm glad the description was vivid enough - it seemed important to portray the true scale of the destruction, especially for anyone who hadn't seen the movie. And yeah, there was no way Merlin could leave all those people behind while he went to safety, and he gave Arthur the excuse he needed to do what he knew he needed to do, even when he thought he couldn't do it.

Oh, and thanks for catching the typo! I am always amazed at how many of those things pop up even after really careful editing!

It is totally crazy how well-written this action was. I WAS SO STRESSED. I quite honestly clapped my hand over my mouth when Owain was falling in! My heart rate's a little up! I just wanted you to know that, because that's never happened to me while I was just sitting in my kitchen reading something. I might as well have been sitting in front of an IMAX. I kind of wish I had a friend in the seat next to me whose hand I could squeeze too hard during the scary-exciting parts.

Heeeee! You have no idea how gleeful your comments make me! Action is pretty stressful to write, and that's pretty much the best reaction I could ever hope for. Thanks!

Wow Wow WOW! That was intense! That scene with Arthur and Lancelot had me literally on the edge of my seat! Thank god they're both all right! After reading about Owain falling to his death, I wasn't so sure that Lancelot wouldn't go after him.

I love that you're adding some action into this! And I really love the way your listing things that happened in the movie as well, to help place the time of what's happening to Arthur. As for Merlin, that was really mean of him, to put that kind of pressure on Arthur but I can understand why he did. Whether it'll make any difference in the end, however, is beyond me. Brilliant chapter!

Whee! I'm so glad you enjoyed the action -- and that you felt some suspense over poor Lancelot's fate. It probably was a bit mean of Merlin to surprise Arthur like that, but given the circumstances, I think they all did what they had to do. And he knew Arthur would do the right thing in the end!
