I know that the release of the DVD region 2 is in April...so I will have to wait a little more :)

But I want to know from you if the new version is worthy, ok? ;)

Usually I don't read many reviews before seeing a movie himself: the reviewers are often very ignorant (for example the reviewer of Variety) and they don't really know what they're talking about: I mean, they don't have any idea of History. Whatever...I don't carr about a sex/love scene between Alexander and Bagoas, I wish to have more History and details...

Thanks for the links!

Reading some of the reviews, I am getting pretty disheartened about this DVD. Today after reading the latest one (the first link, I edited it in today), I have decided to rent it first. If I like it, I'll buy it. The impression I am geting is that in this version the most important change is detailing out the Alexander-Bagoas love story and the ensuing "love triangle" involving Bagoas, Roxane and Hephaistion. And other details like the Hydaspes battle is more bloody and more Ptolemy. None of this appeals to me. Given Alexander's vast life and tremendous achievements, was this more relevant to put in a limited time-length film?

Certainly the many fans of Mary Renault's "The Persian Boy" will love this version.

Sure, I'll write my thoughts when I've seen it.

By the way, the Tritle article you sent me is printed out and I will read it shortly. In preparation, I spent a good bit of time yesterday watching Michael Wood's "In the Footsteps of Alexander", Part 3, when he is in Central Asia, to get myself in the proper mood! :D
