Did nobody tell Bookworm that part of the job description was to compensate for an entire generation who let their kids grow up self-centered brats? At least she's learning from experience the kind of person she doesn't want to be when she grows up. And the kind of mom she doesn't want to be someday. **sigh** It sounds like you're raising a girl to be proud of: polite, resourceful, self-controlled. Good for you!

My former preschool director- who has been at the job for 30 years now- always says that it isn't the children who will drive her to walk away from the job, it's the parents. And after spending an extra 45 minutes at preschool yesterday waiting for a parent to come pick up their child, I have to agree.

Oh dear. Some people really need to grow up, obviously something went bad in this woman's childhood or something. I mean, seriously! You might've been through living hell growing up, whatever it is, it's no excuse to not behave. You've grown up, you've got a resposibility to take care of yourself and that means ironing out disgusting wrinkles in your behaviour. Compassion, woman! Obviously, Bookworm was the grownup in this conversation, the mother behaved like a petulant kid. As for her supervisor? Agreed on BS. THe customer isn't always right, and it's about time some customers were told that. *fumes* Seriously - tell your daughter that she's a gem. Oh - and I'm happy I had my guinea pig, too. :-)

Oy. Vey. poor kid, that's a heck of a lesson to be getting. I'm glad she's doing well with it though! Is she enjoying the job otherwise?

Yeah, I definitely prefer being in the Children's Room at the library rather than working with the adults, but parents can be such a pain. "My child's gifted! I don't care that she's 14 months old, she should be in 2 year old storytime!" The kids do so much better when their parents aren't in there with them. Ugh.
