I do not belong to a religion, but live in a supposedly Christian country and the chasm between church as an institution and 'real' christianity is huge and growing alarmingly.
It is also true that the very few Christians I know that, uh, it feels like they live what they believe in, are the least vocal. It just seeps from everything they do... and it is, well, awesome.
No, I'm embarrassed to be associated with so many other people who call themselves Christians, only to turn around and use the name of the Lord as a means toward evil, unjust, discriminatory, and oppressive ends.
I'm not personally Christian, but I know you're not alone in this feeling. This was nicely written, though I felt it came across really strong and a touch angry, which may or may not be a good thing. XD
