It's true. Even when you lose a boyfriend, you always have your friends to turn to. They're the people who are there when no one else is, especially for an only child like myself. It's worth the effort because at the end of the day, you have a truly strong, tried and true support system. It's the best (and only!) way to be. My mom lost touch with her friends too (to be fair, her old friends were in India) and it sucks for her now. You can't' let one person be your everything.
I agree, though I think some of my friends often lose sight of that and sometimes when you tell them the nicer way of you'd like to see them more, they don't get it and you're kind of there like well, how do I bring this up without sounding like an asshole, lol.
i think people get caught up in honeymoon phase often. unfortunately, sometimes you need to have a really bad break-up in order to fully appreciate your friends.
