Thank God for the OU is all I can say. They should market their degrees as being debt free.

Not that you aren't always my hero, Sam, but as I was poking about your links, it turns out my high school is on the list of more than 30% low-income families, so I actually think I qualify for a bunch of loan forgiveness too, if I can make it to the end of five years without actually murdering somebody.

So YAY. Thanks for handing me a potential $5,000.

This is incredibly useful.

I'm on IBR because when I went into default, I was about as fucked as it was possible to be without losing housing. I'm staying the hell on it as long as I can.

Maybe I should go work for a non-profit?

It's good work if you can get it. I'm not gonna make any sweeping generalisations but I certainly feel much more valued here as an employee than I have elsewhere, and I know that in some small way I'm doing good in the world.

Then again, most theatres are not-for-profit, and man, I have worked with some aaaaaaaassholes in that arena.

Whereas I presently work for a state college, which I assume may be for profit, but maybe not because it's a state thing?

I have no idea.

State colleges are government funded, so yeah, should be NFP by default. There's a link near the end of the post where you can look up whether the org you work for is a NFP or not, though, if you want to be sure...
