Elisha's Adventures in Prescription Land

As you all know, I started medicine for my headaches around the beginning of the month... and there were a few unpleasant side effects - some dizziness, some nausea, changes in taste, loss of appetite.  Though the lack of taste saved me from the rancid taste of an evil Miller Lite when the bar ran out of Budweiser products, and lack of appetite has ( Read more... )

I don't know. My mom thinks I should go off. I haven't had a headache since I've been on. Some studies show they negatively effect depression but positively effect bipolarism... of which I'm a little of both but just starting to level out without meds... I wonder if the trouble with the ears stops, whatever it may be, if some of the side effects with lessen... Maybe I'll ask the doctor's opinion?

I was on Topomax for about a year, and was just tired I think I slept for the first three months. There was one time I was driving home from classes one day and found it to be quite like a roller coaster. You got hit really bad by those side effects. Uh-oh Star Wars commercial gotta go!

Man, I wish I had picked up before in your last post that that was your new drug - I have a few baalnce patients on that right now and I swear I'm treating them for the side effect of the drug.

You may be able to halve the dose, the MD or NP should be able to tell you over the phone (you shouldn't have to go in for a consult on that unless they want to check your blood levels for anything). Off-label use dosages should be generally different than the original scripted uses (i.e., less for a migraine dose than for an epilepsy dose).

Was this Cahn or Childress?

By Cahn or Childress, I assume you mean doctor? No my ne PCP is Chris Harootunian... he just opened up practice in carver in September I think... we did a story on him in the Carver Reporter... very young (36). I'm pretty sure they are dosing me less than for epilepsy... lemme look... I started on one 25mg tablet per day now I'm on three. I think that's where I'm staying. On the bright side the headaches are gone!

The ears (peparate problem) are definitely playing into it too though. My ear pain was less yesterday, so the dizziness and nausea were less. My coordination is off though. And the attention thing really pisses me off... I've alway been so focused and not being able to focus long enough to read or write - hello, career choice! - is more than annoying!

Definitely keep me in the know if you learn more though okay? I appreciate the heads up. Who knows, maybe I'll be coming to you for balance help!

by "peparate" totally meant separate! See! And "p" and "s" are nowhere near each other!
