Days blurr into weeks into months. Near is still in his room. The k'nex come down eventually, he makes surprise things for A, leaves him thoughtful gifts, takes deep breaths.

For once, the world is good.

Tear streaks run down his face--he feels like he's choking on hair, half-sobbing, half panting with exertion as he runs and runs and runs, down the hallway, turning to go around a corner and his momentum bashing him into the opposite wall.

No. No. Nonono, this isn't happening, this isn't real, they'd promised-

He shows up at Near's door a few moments later, practically crashing into it, fists beating against it as he lets out a loud sob. He didn't know where else to go. Anyone else he'd trust with this.

Mihael was gone.

Near hurries to the door and answers it fast. It sounds like an emergency.

"Who is it? What's wrong? Who's there?"

He reaches out with one arm; it's probably someone he knows.

N grabs his arm and pulls him closer, clinging to him as if his life depended on it. He doesn't know if he can get words out right now, he's been crying so hard.

Near knows the feel of him. He wraps N up in his arms, and whispers against his shoulder.

"Oh no."
