First of all, I'm glad to hear they've finally drilled down to where they think the miners in the mine collapse are. I've been constantly reloading the news website hoping to find out more, but I don't think we'll have any more information tonight. Hopefully they'll find the six men alive and will be able to get them the supplies they need ( Read more... )

For some reason the trip seemed like a downer from talking to you guys, but after reading through this and looking at the pictures here it seems better. I don't know. But hooray for vacations!

No, it definitely wasn't a downer. It's definitely not an area I'd ever want to live, it was way too underpopulated, but it was a nice escape and it was fun to see places we'd never seen before.

How did I miss this entry?! Haha, next time you should send a message to cartoondoggy@livejournal.com or poke me on facebook or something. ;)

Yeah! Mount Rushmore does look smaller than you'd think! It's impressive, though. I didn't know you've been spelunking! That sounds fun. The only caves I've been to are in Luray Caverns in Virginia. I heard you have to wear a lot of protective gear for some of those places because of the bat droppings.

Nice prairie dogs! Reminds me of my squirrel pic from Rocky Mountain National Park. ;) Oh neat! So that's where Custer's Last Stand took place. It always comes up in crossword puzzles. Haha! That's a gorgeous sunset and a neat little Utah sign! The Virginia sign is this odd painted bird... meh.

Glad you had a fun trip and welcome back! :)

When I first posted it I accidentally made it private, so it was hidden. Woops!

Ew, bat droppings? The cave we went in this time didn't have enough water to support life, so it didn't have any animals. At least not in the part they let visitors in. Our guide said there were a lot of them where the scientists hang out.

Haha. The prairie dogs were so fun. There were oodles and oodles of them. Definitely hundreds, at least. And they were all really friendly and awesome. I kinda fell in love. ;)

Aw, I'm sure the Virginia sign's not too bad. State signs are so interesting to me. They get a small piece of metal to try to sum up what their state has to offer. Some signs are gorgeous and some leave you thinking...huh?!

Thanks! :)
