FNL/SPN

Went to the screening and reception for "Friday Night Lights" at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences this evening, along with azewewish, without_me, and aproposofnothin. Ended up front row for the screening -- they screened the episode "Crossing the Line." Had a fabulous time, and since I have to be up real early in the morning, here are the bulleted highlights:( This got longer than expected )

That sounds so amazing! Man, I love that show. And hey, they film in my city, it's not so bad here :P

ALso, this makes me want to write the FNL prompt I have for apocalyptothon. Hmmm.

Yay -- I want to encourage the hell out of you to write FNL fic.

I've only been to Austin once, but I really enjoyed the city then.

I love Austin a lot. Not so much during festivals (because traffic is so terrible) or during football season, for that matter, but the rest of the time is awesome. We have bats! And a whole street of bars! And a pink capitol building!

Zach! Kyle! Adrianne! Gaius! Wow, what a night. From your description it seems like the actors are pretty humble and that makes me so happy. I love this cast so much it makes me proud to hear that they're such nice people. Thanks for sharing.

Lisa, it was so much fun. To a person, the actors on that show are so enthusiastic about it, and it's nice that they are willing to share that enthusiasm with the fans.

Words cannot express how thankful I am to you for posting your experience with the FNL cast and also how jealous I am.
I live next to NYC and they have a MTR there too - Damn, why can't they do something there?!!!
I'm so happy that you got to talk with Zach since I've read accounts that he doesn't really hang around to talk with fans.
I have a crush on Billy Riggins as well, and I'm glad he will get a girlfriend this year. And Kyle Chandler....well, he just rocks my world. Does he talk with a Southern accent or is it just the character?
Many thanks again for posting.

He's from Georgia originally (and Connie Britton is from Virginia) so I think it's easy for him to tap into his Southern roots!

There are times I'm very grateful to live in L.A., and one of them is around Paley time because we get so many of these panels. Though I think y'all got the BSG panel there, so sometimes they do!

I did not realize Zach was not known for chatting -- we spoke with him for 10 or 15 minutes before we exited the conversation. It's funny, because he stuck around longer than a lot of the stars on Tuesday night -- hell, I think he might have been one of the only ones left when we left, and he was still going strong talking to a couple who had joined our conversation when we took our leave.

I agree, it will be nice to see more of Billy on the show.

And yes, Kyle talks with a Southern accent, and it's quite charming. He's the only actor that I managed to speak with at both panels, and he was lovely both times.

I agree -- my FNL love is overflowing this week! I'm so glad that they are trying to get the show some exposure before Emmy nominations come out. I really hope it helps. We spoke with Zach about the effect of all the critical acclaim, and he said he wished that some of these awards, like the Pabody and the TCA nomination, could have come out during the TV season, when it could really help them out more in luring an audience and securing the second season.
