Well... they aren't so bad that you can't move entirely. But usually you'll travel with a merchant caravan. That's how I originally left Aveta.

Both, usually. At least on the plains, few groups are bold enough to attack anything more than those who wonder alone or at times when villages are preoccupied. But all the same, other parts of the region might be more dangerous, so most caravans running for any significant length hire protection.

It is definitely a shame that there is no such thing as a truly peaceful world. At least yours is close enough that you can travel. Many in my world don't ever leave their homelands.

Well truth to be told... outside of visits to neighboring tribes or those very caravans, it is rare to leave the lands of ones' people.
