I'm still not sure how I feel about the Gyms, to be honest. Syi Salika seems to be okay with fighting, though, even if I'm not fond of making him.

Did you? That's very encouraging.

I haven't seen any Ice-types besides my Smoochum and her evolved form. Was your starter an Ice-type?

She was originally a Water-type, but when she evolved, she gained the Ice attribute as well. [ and since Asuka's outside, she'll turn the 'gear to show off a Dewgong doing laps in one of Ecruteak's ponds. ]

She's a Dewgong, formerly a Seel.

Well, it's winter, isn't it? If your gym battle takes place outside, that could potentially be an advantage for you.

Don't gym battles generally take place in gyms, though?

I'd expect a Gym Leader to have considered that already.

The type configurations for these creatures are surprisingly logical. If one goes by common sense, battles are very simple, even against strong opponents. As a side note, while I have yet to challenge the first gym leader myself, I am confident that I will do so with success in the future.

However, I have yet to see a creature that looks like that here in Johto. What manner of pokemon is she?

[brb checking type chart again. Smoochum and PokeGear both set on ground now. Darling, the Smoochum, takes this opportunity to show off a bit. She twirls delicately.]

...why Fighting is strong against Steel.

[Smirks slightly. The Smoochum is obliviously, blissfully still dancing a tiny bit.]

Haven't ever tried to punch steel myself, but...

[...wait, that's right. Youji stops the twirling and nudges Darling for a closeup.]

She's a Smoochum. Dual type, Ice and Psychic. Haven't seen much of the latter yet, but the former... she doesn't ever seem to notice the chill.
