I love them both, but I think s2 has more of these "wtf? moments" that you're left hanging with at the end of almost every episode. I find the mystery of Maryann very interesting, but I'm also happy that they're not only focusing on this plot, but also created the fellowship of the son and Godric storylines that weren't really existing in the books.
*Okay, the fellowship is part of the books, but what I wanted to say is that the show's not copying everything from the books, but also creating new storylines. And I'm glad they do, otherwise we wouldn't have Tara being such a great character for example, because she's not really mentioned in the first book.
