I can't believe it's Halloween already tomorrow! Becca's excited - the 5th grade, instead of having individual classroom parties like the rest of the school, will be having a huge party together in the cafeteria. One of the staff members will be DJing (he DJs on the side and has the equipment, so he gets roped into these things to have fun, too ( Read more... )

That's all too scary for me. I'm more an Ann Rice type.

I used to practically worship him; bought everything he wrote in hardback, but lately I get his books from the library. Seems like he lost it after the accident.

I cannot do scary. The scariest books I have ever read were VC Andrews. Ya know, like the Flowers in The Attic series.

ET freaks me out for crying out loud!!

By the way: You've been boo'ed!! Come to blog to see what the heck I am talking about. :)

I read VC Andrews when I was about 12 years old. Yeah, THAT was age-appropriate reading!

And ET is just creepy. And not in a good way.

Thanks for the boo-ing!

I have dipped into a few of those but the one I have read most is Stephen King. Yes, his work has become very hit and miss lately, but I still stick with him. I got Lisey's Story a few days ago, though I haven't read it yet.

I couldn't finish Lisey's Story. I had to give up after a few chapters. But Duma Key is a great book.

I'm a Clive Barker gal myself, Cabal is one of may favs by far of his work. I often wish there were more female names so well known in the horror genre.

I like Clive Barker's movies better than his books. Although I did love the Books of Blood trilogy.

The problem with women horror writers (that I've found) is that too many of them write gothic/romantic vampire stories, and those bore me to tears. There are a few really good ones, but they're mostly in the small press, not mainstream (Monica O'Rourke and Sephera Giron are just a couple of examples).
