Is there any reason why name brand potatoes work better than generic potatoes?

Nope -- any potatoes will do. These are the potatoes I work with and they are all a certain size, so it communicates the size/type I use, but the main reason I mention the brand is because the company sponsored my recipe development. But of course I wouldn't do so if I didn't love their product anyway :)

BTW, I disclose sponsorship on the main blog but never even thought to do so on LJ reposts since those aren't the ones that are sponsored. Sorry if that was confusing.
