Himalayan Pink Salt

Mar 16, 2013 20:58

So in Costco there is Himalayan pink salt in hand grinder bottles right next to the regular sea salt in hand grinder bottles. My question is the Himalayan pink salt a cooking salt? A seasoning salt? Just for show? If I cook with it what do I use it in?

help: technique, help: can i eat this?, help: how to, help: is it edible, herbs and spices: seasonings

I think we share a brain. I saw this salt this morning at Costco and wondered the same thing. I was going to google and forgot!

The wiki article on this salt says you can use it like regular table salt though if it's a lot more expensive, I probably wouldn't bother. :)

I just found this and it seems to clear up a lot.

Hope it helps you too

wow--now I want some! lol Seriously tho--the trace mineral content is a great reason to use this salt! We really don't realize how many minerals we are not getting in our daily diets and what they do for our health.

But wouldn't you have to use an awful lot of salt to get the benefits?

I use limited salt(taste and medical reasons) and I like either real seal salt or pink Himlayan salt in a grinder if I need to buy any. Not sure I would buy at Costco personally, but overall it's healthier than basic seasoning salt.

more trace minerals would indeed make it healthier! Not just lower the salt you'd need to use, which is also a plus.
