I am SO stealing your Yankee Dry Rub recipe! Neither me or my husband likes hot spices, so this is a perfect recipe!

And the soup sounds really good, too! My favorite types of soups are the ones where I get to just add stuff till it tastes right! Yummy!

Cooking really is about improvisation.

I make up a batch of my Yankee Dry Rub and keep it around for general spicing. It gives me just the right amount of warmth and flavor. It's like commercial seasoned salt but with less salt and a bit more flavor.

I didn't include any sugar in my blend because I do use it to season meat for roasting and sugar burns if you put it on too early.

That's a really good idea-I LOVE Lawry's Seasoned Salt, but yeah-it's a bit TOO salty, sometimes. And I also like several of the Mrs. Dash mixes, but they don't compare to the taste of Lawry's, especially for steaks & burgers.

I generally don't use either mix in roasts, because I put in basil and thyme, with some fresh diced onion in the liquid. But I may have to try this, just for a change!

And if you wanted to use it for low-temp cooking or barbeque, it would be easy to add sugar to the mix then, instead of having to mix a whole new batch.
