Beautiful baklava. I especially love the golden brown moist look of the top layer. Mine persists in looking pale and dry. Maybe because I'm afraid it's going to burn. :) I have more success with the 'finger' version of baklava than this more traditional layered one which I find falls apart as I'm slicing it or eating it rather than holding together.
Looks great! And sorry to hear about the heartbreak. :( Cooking is a great way though to take one's mind off of things.
Is orange blossom essence/water readily available in Russia? The Levantine versions of baklava put a few drops of it into the syrup and it can really take the baklava to another level. Just something to play around with in the future, if you are so inclined!
