Ever have one of those days where you're just ready to have a meltdown?

I was having one of those days. Weeks, actually. So I decided to melt down one of my favorite desserts instead, stick a straw in it, and melt away my troubles with this delicious pumpkin pie dessert smoothie.

It occurs to me that your smoothie could be a workable (and tasty) interpretation of pumpkin juice for a Harry Potter theme party.

I'm trying to figure out a cookie butter that uses something a little healthier than regular veggie oil(at least in my head). I was considering maple syrup or local honey but not sure that it would work(more consistancy than flavor). I am going to have to investigate now..

The shake by the way sounds awesome!!

Great idea! I assume coconut oil would work wonders, and that might be a more natural-type sub if you're interested in that. Otherwise, the honey/syrup might be a bit thick--you'd probably have to thin it out with at least some oil in that case.

Something else that I've heard mentioned as a texture-imparting fat substitute is pureed prunes (which would double as a sweetening agent); this isn't something I've personally had occasion to try, but I thought the tip worth passing along.
