Help me!

Jul 21, 2012 15:53

I've got my wisdom teeth removed (all 4 of them on the same day) and I can't eat solid food for at least 4 days, so I need ideas so I don't eat store bought baby food. I don't feel like I've ate if I don't chew, I normally wouldn't consider soup as dinner or lunch but now I don't have an option, so I ask you please to enlighten me with filling ( Read more... )

If you aren't crazy about soup then try smoothies, you can pack a number of items in there....but beware of things like strawberries with the little seeds that can get stuck in empty teeth sockets.

I had oral surgery a year or so ago and the first few days I ate A LOT of mashed potatoes and gravy. I made a lot of smoothies (a couple bananas, yogurt, a but of milk, berries or whatever we had around) and the smoothies really filled me up!

I did the same thing! When I got all 4 pulled in the same day... it was soup, mashed potatoes, smoothies, yogurts, ice cream! :)

But i really didn't eat that much, it hurt so much I didn't want to put anything in my mouth so I had a lack of appetite and lost about 3 pounds in that week, by 2nd week I was gobbling it all up!

Yeah. The first day or so I wasn't hungry because I felt horrible, was a bit scared of eating and the pain meds made me not hungry.

It was a lot of soup, mashed potatoes, jello, smoothies and applesauce.

My first "meal" a few days after was cheese ravioli. :)

Scrambled eggs and yogurt (not at the same time, obviously) were life-savers for me.

Whatever you do, DO NOT drink anything through a straw until you are completely healed. Dry socket is hell; you don't want to go there.

Tuna fish. Honest to god, just make up the tuna fish salad, don't put it on bread, and eat with a fork. You will feel like you have eaten real food. Promise.

Ta-dah!When I had my wisdom teeth out, my favorite thing was orzo pasta with mashed up avocado and de-seeded, finely diced tomato. Basically, make really lemony guacamole, add in orzo pasta and de-seeded (that part is important! Seeds are your enemy!) tomato, and you have a delicious meal ( ... )

Thanks =)

I am in the south emisphere, here it's winter xD I guess I should have added that. I still need to eat cold things for a few days though (luckyly days have been warm and not ice cold as a few weeks ago). That dish you mention sound really good, I will have to try it, I am an avocado addict xD

Ah ha! Then warm (not hot!) soups will be your friend in a day or so.

If you like avocado, I also recently tried avocado egg salad. One boiled egg to either one small avocado or half of a big avocado, mashed up with salt & pepper. I add lemon or lime juice, just because I like it, but that's up to you. It's filling, the egg is good for you, and it's soft.
