"Designer Habitat Electric Soup Maker" - anyone know what it's like?

I'm looking for a replacement for my blender, which I only ever use for soups. I started looking at soup makers rather than just blenders, and found this:

I wasn't aware such an appliance even existed, but if you're just making soup it seems like an immersion blender would do the same job for less cost and storage space.

While I agree with the principle, I'd probably be spending that sort of money on just a blender in any case, so it seems worth looking at.

here's a discussion about soup makers (which i'd never heard of. i thought *I* was the soup maker!)

maybe that helps with your decision!

Thanks! Far too many commenters saying "too expensive, use a saucepan" without bothering to consider that their personal preference for ease of use v cost may not be shared and is in fact irrelevant, but one very good point made.

"I think it depends on the quantity you want to make. If you are a batch cooker - ie. you make a panful and save or freeze it - then a soup maker is not for you! You are very limited by the quantity you can put in to stop it swirling over the top when it liquidises which is about two helpings."

My quantity of soup is "how much can I get in the slow cooker?". So I check the spec. for the heavily reduced gadget in question, and.... "1.7L Capacity"

Right, back to the blender plan, then,
