Perhaps, I'll go to a very good bakery and buy a single slice to taste before I make the effort to bake one myself though. :) I'm bookmarking this recipe until then. I'm glad that you didn't go overboard on the decorations.

I think it is really worth trying and going to a good bakery sounds like the best option.
I also prefer the frosting to be less sweet and less rich than the classic American variation. It should taste mainly of cream cheese with a bit of sweetness and a tiny bit of saltiness (like e.g. in this recipe), then it brings the cake to a completely different level.

Is this frosting really sweet? I'd almost prefer just a light glaze to a full-on frosting.
