When halving some yeast recipes, I've read that halving the amount of yeast would be detrimental to the rise of the dough (i.e. it wouldn't be enough, I guess), so you shouldn't half the yeast. Because I'm never sure if a recipe is like that or not, as a rule, I generally don't half things with yeast. Some folks do it with some recipes and it's fine, so I'll just say half at your own risk ;)
