Totally random question almost a year later... what is the difference between pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie filling? Where would one find pumpkin puree or how would one go about making it? If there are no pumpkins or puree to be found, can you substitute pie filling?

Hey there, pumpkin pie filling has lots of other ingredients, sugar , eggs etc. I don't know how you can substitue it. Pumpkin puree is just cooked winter squash, or pumpkin, pureed in a food processor or blender. It's usually in the canned vegetable aisle.
