This looks yummy and I am a big fan of rice puddings but I have a question. I have never seen palm sugar in the stores here and I am not familiar with the flavor, is there a substitute that would work?

Sure, there are substitutes. Palm sugar has own flavor, but there is nothing wrong with using light brown sugar instead. You could also try muscovado sugar here if it's available to you. Light muscovado will work for sure. Even the dark could be interesting, with its intense flavor.

Jasmine rice <> sticky rice. They're rather different - which explains your picture looking "off" to me. Real sticky rice is labeled as wither sweet rice or glutinous rice.

Oh, I'd also appreciate it if you'd quit with the fake cuts. Forcing traffic to your personal blog is rather poor form.

Seconding this in its entirety, with the add-on that OP's fake cuts always confuse me because they're not labeled as fakes, and there really is cut content below the fake cut. Isn't it harder to do cuts that way than just... a real cut?

That said, "imitation sticky rice" might be easier on my budget, since the few times I've found actual glutinous rice it's been a dollar an ounce.
