Watermelon Overload!!

Jun 20, 2011 18:18

So, we just cut into the 35 lb. watermelon we bought a little while ago. Other than margaritas, granita and sorbet...what can I do with it all? I would love it if you could hit me with your tried and true watermelon recipes! (I already know I'm making watermelon rind preserves with the rind, so just the flesh recipes please!)

I like the sweet/savory sound of this.

I love just eating slices with cinnamon on it.

I've done salt, but never cinnamon. I shall try it!

I have not tried any of these, but this is what I found while looking for the watermelon mint soup I was going to suggest.

The first one in particular screams summer late night dinner at sunset...

Soup, salsas, make melon balls and then freeze them to use as ice in drinks(or blend for a smoothie).

Cut slabs and grill it - yes seriously. Look it up, it adds a whole new flavor to it and great under a simple salad(or I like it as a huge melon kebob, lol)

I've pureed a bunch of it already and thrown it in ice cube trays in the freezer.

I will definitely google grilling it, I would think that with the high water content it would be messy to say the least. Thanks for the great tip!
