What are good flavors to add to beans and rice?

In light of the previous post to this feed...what are some great seasonings that I can add to rice and beans to add some variety?

Rice with toasted pine nuts, toasted cumin and sesame seeds and finely chopped corriander (cilantro in the US I think?) is my favourite. Toast the seeds/nuts and throw them in with the rice when it cooks then stir the corriander in at the end.

I also like it with sun dried tomato, red pepper, sauteed onion and mushroom and some basil if you can be bothered :)

I am a lazy cook, I just use half-salsa, half-water for my rice, then add beans and maybe a can of chopped green chilis. :)
