Glogg with Cardamom and Raisins

2 bottles red wine
2oz dried orange zest
2oz cinnamon sticks
20 cardamom seeds
25 cloves
16oz blanched almonds
16oz raisins

Heat the wine in a pot with all the spices, except the raisins. Do not boil.

Add in raisins right before serving.  Serve hot.

I'm a bit confused about the instructions on the spices. Do you put them in the cheesecloth first then put in the heated wine or do you put the spices in loose and then heat up the wine? Perhaps you skipped a step somewhere?

I would imagine the spices (orange zest, cinnamon sticks, cardamon seeds, cloves, almonds) would be tied up into a cheese cloth bundle and added into the pot while the wine is heating. This would make it easy to separate them out before adding the raisins and serving.
