Le Creuset is amazing and ridiculously expensive. A friend bought me a no-name knockoff enameled cast iron oval dutch oven for Christmas. It was also made in France and cost about $200 less than the LC version (I think she got it on sale at Marshall's), and it works beautifully. I haven't noticed any difference between it and the genuine LC article.
My mom has a plain, unenameled cast iron dutch oven, and that works wonderfully as well, and you can find them for far less.
I seem to be in the minority with my staub, but I'm completely enamored with it. It's a delight to cook with and it's simply gorgeous. Try amazon if you're looking for le creuset, or even staub; they often have stock for cheaper than you could find at a physical store. However, Ive also heard several happy testimonials from people who pick up enameled dutch ovens for under 50 dollars. You might also try discount stores, like TJ Maxx, or Marshalls, if you have them near you. Whatever you end up buying, enjoy!

If I was buying one for myself, I'd go for one of those. (My Le Creuset was a gift. I love my family.)
