Thai quest

I'm searching for a great Thai recepie that two 80+-year-olds will like.  I'm worried that the curry will throw him off, and she'll eat .... none of it...

It has to be an entree, not a salad or appetizer/soup.  Please get back to me before friday - if possible (that's when I have to buy my ingredients and cook the meal)

cuisine: thai

I don't have a specific recipe in mind but anything where lemongrass is the dominant flavor should be pretty palatable to old folks. I like to use it in a chicken and vegetable soup and that might be a good idea -- the more familiar the form of the dish, the better, right?

Sorry, apparently I can't read. I was looking through lemongrass recipes last night and read about a lot of grilling marinades that might be nice -- they're right there at the top of the google page.

I don't have an exact recipe, but I remember going to a Thai restaurant with my grandmother (turning 85 this year), and she really liked a dish called Chicken in the Garden; it was essentially chicken and mixed vegetables lightly stir-fried with a side of a light peanut sauce, served with white rice. I know she liked that she could control how much peanut sauce to put on the dish, and it was made up of fairly familiar ingredients.

Pad Thai!, Pad Thai!, Pad Thai! (three different links, all you need to know about Pad Thai! "Stir-fried rice noodle in tamarind sauce with chicken, shrimp, tofu kan, egg, bean sprout, chive, crushed peanut and lime")

I also love Pad See Ew "A Thai staple, broad rice noodle stir-fried with egg and Thai broccoli in sweet soy sauce and yellow bean paste"
and Kai Kua "Stir-fried broad noodle with chicken, squid, egg and scallion in light soy sauce served over lettuce"

Be careful - these dishes will give most elderly people major stomach issues - ie, diarrhea.

From my experience cooking at assisted living homes and dining out with older adults, they like dishes younger people might consider bland. So a familiar protein like chicken, beef, or pork, a variety of vegetables, and not too heavy on anything, especially seasoning. Tom Yum soup low on soy sauce is similar to chicken noodle, so that would be a good dish, along with a basic rice and veggies dish. You could try a LITTLE bit of peanut butter in the sauce to make it more nutty, but that's pushing it. Some 80-somethings love variety and new things, but most do not, so I'd play it safe. Another caution is that anything too flavorful, salty, or "different" may cause a serious reaction with the bowels.

I would do a variety of satay's as entree's. The peanut sauce is something they dip in, so they can use it to their taste. Combine that with a pineapple fried rice and call it a day.
