reheating fish

Apr 30, 2009 15:44

So I just made a nice tilapia fillet using a variation on this recipe and it came out really, really tasty. I meant to make a single serving but I guess I overestimated my appetite and now I've got it leftover. I know that fish dishes can get really nasty when reheated -- any tips on making sure this stays nice and yummy? Thanks!

I've never had a problem reheating fish except for fried fish then it gets soggy. But you should be fine just eat it within the next couple days

No? You dont know the nasty fish until you accidently leave it in the car for 5 days during the heat wave.

Whatever you do, don't microwave it. The smell lingers for days. If you have a toaster oven, just slip it in there for a few minutes on fairly high heat, or sear it in a saute pan for a minute or two.

I say just keep it cold and eat it cold. You could make it the center piece of a salad. Reheated fish tastes like reheated fish, there's no way to make it as good as it was. However, cold fish the next day AS cold fish can be surprisingly good.

I put steak sauce on it when I reheat it. That always does the trick and takes the fish taste away! I wonder if reheating in the oven rather than in the microwave would be any better? I've never tried that.
